Lighthouse Academy is a Christ-centered, special-purpose school established in 2020 to serve students with dyslexia through an education of excellence.

We are a 501c3 organization and are one of only three special-purpose schools accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education.

Lighthouse Academy implements Orton-Gillingham based dyslexia therapy and structured literacy language arts daily. Our highly-trained reading teachers hold Master's Degrees in Dyslexia Therapy or are currently enrolled in the Dyslexia Therapy Master's Programs certified by the International Dyslexia Association.

Lighthouse Academy instructors are passionate about teaching students to thrive with dyslexia. Many understand first-hand the challenges dyslexia presents both in and out of the classroom. Because Lighthouse Academy believes every child can thrive in an academic-rich environment, we offer hands-on science, math, and STEM class experiences. Art, Music, and PE are a regular part of our yearly curriculum. We believe that a growth mindset and mindfulness are essential ingredients for a successful education and make this a part of our school culture. Our students also take regular educational field trips because experiential learning is critical to building background knowledge and a rich vocabulary.

Students of Lighthouse Academy have a six-to-one student-to-teacher ratio. Teachers provide all reading instruction in small groups. General class sizes do not exceed fourteen students. The goal of Lighthouse Academy is to return students to mainstream schools.

Lighthouse Academy is passionate about educating those who have been told reading, writing, and spelling were impossible. We do this by enabling life-long learners through the science of reading, the development of the whole child, the passion of great educators, the "centergy" of teamwork, and the love of Christ.
