Kayla is currently completing her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Louisiana State University, where she also teaches undergraduate courses in dyslexia. Her research interests include the intersection of dyslexia and incarcerated individuals, and she has published works examining the unique challenges and strategies for supporting dyslexic individuals within the justice

As the mother of four children, including a daughter with dyslexia, Kayla’s personal experience further fuels her passion for the field. Kayla is now focused on supporting dyslexia education through her role as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia, where she works to train and develop new therapists and implement evidence-based practices for students with dyslexia.
