About Us

Our heart is for the 1 in 5

Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit special purpose school, accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education, serving students with dyslexia in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

    Our Story

A school built around how dyslexic students learn

Daily instruction at Lighthouse includes Orton-Gillingham based dyslexia therapy, structured literacy, and hands-on multi-sensory math. Students also receive project-based science, social studies, STEM, art, quarterly field trips, physical education, and music throughout the year.

The school grew out of a simple conviction: students with dyslexia do not need to wait years to read confidently if the instruction matches the way their brains process language. With small classes, certified academic language therapists, and a culture that celebrates how dyslexic minds work, students move quickly from struggle to mastery.

Lighthouse Academy is also a proud co-host of the Southeastern Dyslexia Summit, an annual professional gathering that lives at its own site, sds24.org.

    Our Community

A school small enough to know every child

Lighthouse Academy is built around the students in front of us. Class sizes stay small, teachers stay with their students, and progress is measured one reader at a time.

Families tell us the difference shows up at home first: less dread on school mornings, more willingness to try, and a child who starts describing themselves as a learner again.
