Dyslexia Therapy Beyond Our Classrooms

The Same Therapy, Outside Our Walls
Many families find Lighthouse after a diagnosis, or after years of watching a bright child struggle with reading. Not every one of those students can enroll with us, and that is why outclient therapy exists.
A certified academic language therapist works with a small group of students in structured, multisensory sessions built around explicit phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Progress is measured, and you hear about it regularly.
Therapy meets in person at 2436 West Commerce Street, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Sessions are one hour long, meet three afternoons per week, and are billed at $40 per hour.
What Families Can Expect
Small group instruction
Students work in small groups led by a certified academic language therapist, using the same Orton-Gillingham based approach we use in our classrooms.
Open to all ages, with a documented diagnosis
Children, older students, college students, and adults are all welcome in therapy. The one requirement is a documented dyslexia diagnosis, just as it is for the school. Our Center for Diagnostics can complete an evaluation if you do not have one yet.
Three afternoons each week
Sessions are one hour long and meet three afternoons per week. Which three afternoons depends on the therapist your student is matched with, so the days vary from one therapist to the next. Consistency is what makes therapy work, so attendance matters.
A multi-year commitment
Enrollment is annual, and most students continue three years or more. Real change in reading takes time, and we want families to plan for the whole road.
From Application to First Session
Five steps, and we stay in touch with you through all of them.

Submit your application
Complete the application below, upload the evaluation report, and pay the $50 application fee, which is nonrefundable. You can pay by card right after you submit, or bring cash or a check to our office. An application is considered complete once we have all three.

We review the file
Our therapy director reads the evaluation and the application to understand what your student needs and whether our groups are the right fit.

A conversation, when it helps
We may ask to meet with you, and sometimes with your student, before making a placement decision.

Placement decision
If there is a fit and an opening, we offer a place. If groups are full, we may offer a spot on our waiting list. Applying does not guarantee placement.

Enrollment paperwork
Once a place is offered, we complete the service contract, set up payment, and collect the permissions we need before the first session.
