Who we are
Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia and the Lighthouse Center for Diagnostics ("Lighthouse," "we," "us") are part of an educational organization in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. This policy explains what information we collect through lighthousedyslexia.org, lighthousediagnostics.org, our family portal, and our staff tools, and how we use and protect it.
Lighthouse is an educational organization. We are not a health care provider covered by HIPAA, and we do not bill insurance. We still treat the information families share with us as private and handle it with care.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to serve students, families, and adult learners:
- Contact details such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses, when you fill out a contact form, screener, Case History Form, therapy application, or admissions form.
- Learner information such as age, grade, school, developmental and educational history, prior testing, and documents you upload, so our team can plan evaluations, therapy, or instruction.
- Evaluation and program records such as appointments, attendance, evaluation results, reports, and notes created by our staff.
- Payment information. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We receive a record that a payment was made, but we never see or store full card numbers.
- Account information for the family portal and staff tools, such as your sign-in email and the date of your last sign-in.
- Basic technical information such as browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site working and secure.
How we use information
- To respond to questions and schedule consultations, evaluations, and therapy.
- To conduct evaluations, write reports, and provide instruction and therapy.
- To send appointment confirmations, reminders, receipts, and portal updates.
- To process payments and keep accurate financial records.
- To review admissions and enrollment.
- To keep our systems secure and improve our services.
Google account data
Lighthouse staff may connect their own Google Calendar to our scheduling tools so that evaluation appointments and availability stay in sync. In the future, families may also be able to sign in with a Google account.
When you connect a Google account, we may access:
- Your name, email address, and profile picture, to identify you.
- Your Google Calendar events and availability, only for staff who choose to connect a calendar. We read busy times to prevent double booking, and we add, update, or remove the appointments our scheduling tools create.
We use Google data only to provide these scheduling and sign-in features. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train artificial intelligence models. People do not read your Google data except when you ask us for help, when needed for security, or when required by law.
Lighthouse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect your Google account at any time from our tools or from your Google account permissions page. When you disconnect, we stop accessing your calendar.
Children's information
Many of the learners we serve are children. Information about a child is provided by a parent or guardian, and we use it only to provide the services the family requested. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or ask us to delete their child's information by contacting us.
How we protect information
We use encrypted connections, access controls that limit each staff member to what their role requires, and activity logs for sensitive records. Uploaded documents are stored privately and shared only through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your information safe.
How long we keep information
We keep evaluation, enrollment, and payment records as long as needed to serve the learner and to meet our record-keeping obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove details that identify you.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information.
- You can stop reminder texts by replying STOP, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.
- You can disconnect a Google account at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will let families know by email or through the portal.
